Lending rules

  • Borrowing materials is free. 
  • You may borrow and return in most public libraries in Norway.
  • The library can order materials from other libraries.
  • Always bring your library card. If you forget your card, you must show other identification.
  • Anyone above 15 years may have a library card. Children  under 15 must have a signed consent from parent/guardian.
  • You are responsible for anything borrowed on your card.
  • Report any changes in contact information or loss of card.
  • Lost cards are replaced for a fee of NOK 20,-.
  • Normal lending period is 4 weeks, 1 week for DVDs. Shorter or longer lending periods may occur. You can renew if nobody is waiting for the item. 
  • All materials must be returned before due date. If you return too late you will be charged with a fee of NOK 40, - per reminder.
  • For children (below 15) the first reminder is free.
  • Lost or injured materials will be charged.
  • Abuse of the library’s services may lead to loss of lending rights.
  • Library employees are bound by professional secrecy. All personal information will be treated according to current rules and Vestby kommunes privacy policy.
